What DIY bed to make for your bedroom?

To bring style and originality to your bedroom, here are some ideas for DIY bed creation modern.

Making a pallet bed:

Wooden pallets are all the rage in recent years. They can be used to simply and quickly make a bed. To guarantee you good quality, we recommend EPAL Europe pallets which can be painted and varnished as you wish.

To create a bed of 160 x 190 cm, opt for 4 wooden pallets of 120 x 80 cm. For assembly, start by cutting two pallets 70 cm in length (on the longest side: 120 cm). You will thus obtain pallets 70 cm long and 80 cm wide.

Then take care to sand them lightly to smooth the wood and prevent splinters from appearing. Finally, place the two pallets you cut against the wall, leaving the 80 cm side against the wall. Then, position the two large pallets that you did not cut (120*80 cm) against the first two pallets. Be sure to place them lengthwise.

Making a hanging bed:

For more originality, dare the suspended bed, very trendy at the moment. To make a suspended bed, you will need wooden beams, pallets, a plywood plate to hold the mattress, ropes or chains and suspension hooks or steel bars.
Make sure your ceiling is strong enough to support the weight of a bed and mattress. Do not forget to also take into account the weight of the sleepers.

Making a homemade bed with wooden planks

To make it, equip yourself with wooden planks, metal supports, wood screws, a screwdriver and a sander. Start by assembling the frame by fixing the 4 boards with 4 metal supports. The presence of supports on the corners will prevent damage if your bed has to support a lot of weight. Finally, all you have to do is add the 4 bed legs of your choice. You can opt for wooden, metal or steel legs.
